Rojin waved her tail and was just about to swim away when Lisa yelled in fright:
"A sea snake, a sea snake, quick, hide!" And in a second the four mermaids had disappeared.
Brave Hunter, Neston, captain Ton
and Hanni saw an enormous slimy sea snake coming at them. On his head he had two
big round green eyes, turning around and around. A long red tongue flashed in
and out of his mouth. "Look what we have here?", he hissed when he got
closer to the sailing boat. His long chubby body twisted over the sand and his
eyes were rolling even harder when he saw the group in the boat.
"Humans!", he hissed. "It has been a long time since I tasted human
meat!", licking his lips in anticipation. "Who will I munch on
first?"
, the snake pondered with a mean smile as the end of his tail swept back and forth.
At first all in
the boat where speechless as they stared at the snake. They had never seen such
a big creature before. The length of his body was enormous, as long as three
sailing-boats lined up. And his head could almost fill the cockpit. But then
Brave Hunter bent down, grabbed a piece of rope connected to an anchor and waved
the anchor above his head while roaring in a loud voice: "One step closer
and I will hit your head with this anchor, ugly beast!" "And I'll
stab you with this knife", captain Ton yelled as he took a huge knife from
his belt and waved it in the air dangerously. Neston pulled a brave face, jumped
into the air, showed his arm muscles and clenched his fists as if he wanted to
fistfight with the snake. Now Hanni not wanting to be left out, screamed at the
top of her lungs: "And I will bite your tail!"
